PRICING VERSES VALUE/RESULTS

PRICING VERSES VALUE/RESULTS

I have been asked many times over the years, “Why does SinoFresh™ Nasal and Sinus Care cost so much?” My first response is always, “Compared to what?” While this may seem somewhat cliché, my answer is substantiated by years of observation and research, further tempered by my own personal experiences.

Consumers who suffer through debilitating chronic sinusitis (CS) symptoms several times in any given year have, up until now, had basically two choices: to either self medicate themselves or to visit their physician. The outcome, no matter their choice, has always resulted in treatment of their symptoms.

What value can be assessed in terms of possibly not having the chronic episode in the first place? In addition to the pain and suffering, would not the prevailing illness register terrible consequences in terms of lost wages, physician office visits, expensive Rx treatments and over-the-counter treatment which can result in two or three different therapies often times necessary to deal with more than one symptom?

In 2000, Mayo Clinic announced in the Wall Street Journal they had concluded an exhaustive study of CS sufferers which resulted in discovery, for the first time, the triggering mechanism responsible for typical CS episodes. The article and a patent Mayo was awarded clearly identified numerous strains of mold and fungus as the culprit. In simple lay terms the Mayo findings were stated: As the nose filters and the sinuses condition the air we breathe, mold and fungus becomes trapped. In many individuals, this triggers an immune system response as their body fights to rid itself of the cumulative burden. As the immune system response intensifies, symptoms begin to appear such as watery eyes; headaches; and dry, stuffy and inflamed noses leading to swollen nasal and sinus tissues. Since mold and fungus are in such great abundance throughout the environment, often times exacerbated in warm, wet climates; trees; grass; air conditioning ducts; faulty plumbing; leaky buildings; and other fertile breeding habitats, CS episodes seem almost inescapable.

In 1996, SinoFresh™ began working with intra nasal applications of antiseptic and antifungal ingredients capable of killing exactly the types of mold and fungus described in the Mayo study. For its efforts, SinoFresh™ was rewarded with a patent portfolio numbering more than 100 patents worldwide and in 2000, began to commercialize the product SinoFresh™ Nasal and Sinus Care. This product, while pleasing and refreshing to use, has ingredients designed to kill mold and fungus in the nasal passage, before the pathogens can bring harm. A disruptive technology has evolved that is revolutionizing contemporary views on CS.

This all brings me back to the cost versus value/results question. The price of any pharmaceutical product can not be measured solely in terms of production cost or by comparison to a product that is less expensive, entirely different and possibly inferior. One has to consider the enormous price that must be paid for scientific evaluations, studies, research, patents, marketing, promotion and a host of other expenses all of which are directly related to the complexities encompassing retail cost. New technology creates an even greater cost burden due to the enormous expenses associated with consumer education and brand awareness. Obviously if the technology did not exist prior to the invention, consumers and the medical community have to be informed.

Over the years, many of the tens of thousands of satisfied SinoFresh customers have said to me: personally, “I don’t care what the product costs, just don’t stop making it!” Like me, they are experiencing happier, more productive life styles free of the pain and suffering associated with CS and like me, agree, pricing pales in comparison to results when viewed from a proper perspective.
