TODAY’S TRAVELERS, HOW SAFE ARE WE?

TODAY’S TRAVELERS, HOW SAFE ARE WE?

“Driven by consumer concerns, health related issues are likely to become the single greatest factor in the decision making process governing cruise and airline travel”.
Charles Fust, 2009

The buy line for this article at first glance appears to strike fear, nevertheless, consider the recent outbreak of swine flu and the impact it is having upon travelers worldwide, especially the cruise and airline industry. Cruise ships have recently diverted from their itineraries, some choosing to not make port stops at all, airline passengers are screened before boarding with authorities looking for “flu like symptoms” and all the while, people become increasingly alarmed. During this period of heightened awareness, health officials are constantly reminding us, that other than the obvious, hand cleansing using antimicrobial/antiseptic lotions and soaps are the only basic precaution at our disposal.

Many now believe that the swine flu outbreak we are experiencing pales in comparison to what could happen as we approach the next flu season. If these predictions are accurate, how many consumers will feel comfortable in crowed travel oriented spaces, especially terminals, eateries, planes and cruise ships? Except for those whose jobs depend upon travel, it can be assumed leisure travel will be severely crippled.

Cleansing ones hands, while not completely fail safe, is touted by many medical authorities as an important means of prevention. This is based upon the fact, by touch; viral germs can be transferred from various surfaces such as door knobs, hand rails, currency, chairs, hand dryers, toilet levers and many other places to our hands.. Once our hands come into contact with these surfaces, as we then touch our nose and mouth, germs gain access to our own upper respiratory system..

What if it was possible to create an environment in our nose and throat that would be inhospitable to harmful germs? Wouldn’t this be a great adjunct to the concept of cleansing our hands? We have all accepted that prevention and killing germs is normal and routine in terms of health benefits for our mouth, teeth and gums, why would we not consider protecting our nose and throat?
Due to coughing and sneezing, we must also consider the aerated germs that invade our immediate space, specifically contaminating the air we breathe, are not going to be impeded in the least by cleansing our hands. Now that we can, administering an extra measure of protection directly at the body’s gateway, specifically our nose and throat, may represent one of the most significant breakthroughs imaginable.

While this may sound a little futuristic, there is a product now available that has been formulated to kill germs in the nose and deep throat. The product, SinoFresh Nasal and Sinus Care is in wide scale retail and internet distribution. Further information can be obtained by visiting www.sinofreshstore.com

An ounce of prevention that lasts for a month…
